At the heart of Five Acres lies Our Garden a vibrant, nurturing space that reflects the values and spirit of our community.

More than just a physical space, the garden represents growth, inclusion, and purpose. Our Gardening Team, known as the Garden Crew, plays a vital role in maintaining this space, contributing not only to its beauty but also to its function as a source of fresh produce and a place of learning and wellbeing.

The Garden Crew is responsible for cultivating a diverse range of fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, and flowering plants. Their work supports both the physical environment of Five Acres and the wider ethos of sustainability and community involvement. Our Champions individuals supported and empowered through our programmes thrive through meaningful, hands-on engagement with nature. Whether tending to Bonsai trees or planting seasonal crops, they develop practical skills while also building confidence, independence, and a deepened connection to the natural world.

Collaboration is a key part of our approach. The Gardening Team works closely with other local organisations and community groups on joint initiatives, including the care of shared allotments and public green spaces. These partnerships not only strengthen community bonds but also provide Champions with broader opportunities to engage with and positively impact the local area. Through these collaborative projects, the Garden Crew helps extend the values of Five Acres beyond our own grounds, reinforcing our belief that caring for nature also means caring for one another.
